Five Haiku From An Aikido Novice
by Ron Perovich
In my heavy Gi,
A mast beneath the canvas,
I must sail swiftly.
My belt is just white.
When do I get the cool pants?
Sensei rolls his eyes.
I can’t wait to spar.
I’m bigger than that old guy.
I’m down in one move.
I know how to win.
Trust me, I don’t need these drills.
I keep eating floor.
I am out of breath,
Though he’s the one that threw me.
Wait, did he just yawn?
